Currently available for order are the WF-5 mandolin, WA-5 mandolin, WPT-5 (two point) and the WH-5 mandola. These instruments are constructed generally to “Loar specs” with tone-bar bracing, using Red Spruce tops, and either Red or Sugar Maple backs, necks, and sides. Sitka and Carpathian Spruce as well as Bigleaf and European Maple are also used periodically. Gotoh tuners are standard due their functionality and since their base plates are very similar to vintage Gibson tuners. To maintain a vintage appearance, tuners are retrofitted with vintage appearing nickle silver screws and washers as well as with Mother of Pearl, Abalone, or black celluloid buttons. State of the art cast and machined James tailpieces are used along with Cumberland Acoustics bridges for further accurate functionality and vintage appearance. Waverly tuners may be substituted as an upgrade. All instruments are finished in oil varnish.
Peg head inlay options are inspired by but modifications of the early Gibson “Torch & Wire” and “Fern” designs as well as the Wilson “Lil’ Rooster” and Fleur de lis designs available for WA and WTP models.
